If a dark templar finds your marine army and you're not paying attention, you'll come back to a pool of blood.Ī really good solid early and mid game unit I have to recommend is vultures. * fun fact: if a unit dies in one hit, you won't get a "your forces are under attack" notice.

They're tougher, you don't have to worry as much about managing bigger numbers of units, don't have to worry about stimming and over-stimming, they won't completely instantly melt if you accidentally wander into lurkers, they don't die to one hit from dark templars*, their upgraded rockets are scary against air and they're just overall badass. If you want to keep it simple, I would recommend massing goliaths over medics and marines after the early game. The better you get at those three things, the stronger you will be, pretty much no matter what you build. If your income is too fast for your production, build more production structures and make sure you're upgrading and researching everything. This is typically a hidden sign of bad macro. Try to not have a building with more than 2 units in production. Keeping your resources low while having good worker saturation is how you have good macro. 400 unspent minerals are 8 extra marines that could be on the field or a new command center that can be multiplying your income. Don't wait to get blocked before building your next depot.Īlways spend your resources. If you don't have enough supply to produce new units, you're accumulating unspent resources, everything is halted, this is bad. This is probably the #1 sin of new and low level players.ĭon't get supply blocked. It takes a while to saturate to this level and the faster you do it, the stronger you will be. To be efficient, you need 3 workers per gas geyser, and about 2 workers per mineral field. If you really want to improve, you just need to keep these three essential priorities in mind:Īlways build workers. Shit, I realize I still wrote way too much, and reading your post again, since you can't even hold the AI's early attacks, maybe a lot of it is a little too advanced. And I'll assume you're a complete beginner with no RTS experience and I want to give you good tips! Sorry if it gets a little complicated, I'll elaborate or simplify anything you ask. This is a little wordy because this was my game and I miss it and started having too much fun with the theorycrafting, sorry. I think you will have a much easier time if you make a factory after your first barracks. Marines and medics are solid or whatever but I would recommend against building three barracks in your situation. Please keep in mind that I don't know any hotkeys and stuff so please don't make it so complicated. I would appreciate any tips you guys give. Also I've been looking into bunkers and might implement these around my base while I'm building marines to just have great defenses and a huge army of marines. I've been reading how apparently marines are bad against Protoss. The maps we will be playing on are Primevel Isles (one match), Enigma, and Big Game Hunters (unlimited resources for that one). The other team knows I'm new and I think they're not going to attack me right away (except maybe the other guy who is bad like me). The enemy is at my base pretty much when I have 20 (or so) marines and 4 medics but I lose every fight at my own base. I still can't do much beyond that because the AI starts destroying all my shit before I can get any further, lol. My strategy, if you don't want to watch the video, is to basically produce marines and medics and act as a distraction for my team. Their 4th player is in the same position as me completely new to the game and will play Terran. 3rd player is decent and will be Protoss. Another player who will likely play as Protoss is almost as good (he could go Zerg too and Terran as a third option). I know this about our opponents - They have one Zerg player who is really good.

I'm not perfect at following it yet but every time I watch it I get a better and better understanding of it. I'm playing as Terran and my strategy is largely based on this video. I realize that this game takes time to get good at but I'd at least like to be able to beat the AI on normal or faster by Monday. I knew next to nothing about Starcraft like 3 days ago and have learned a lot but there is still a ways to go.
